    My Bad!

I just had an embarassing moment today.  My phone went off, but I had forgotten to mute it.  So, in the midst of a test, I had to turn it off, and apologize.

I'm death on cell phones.  Kids at my school are always checking them under the desk.  It's gotten so that I normally say, "turn it off" rather than confiscate it.  It's just not worth the trouble to enforce the rules, if the admin isn't going to follow through.

It seems that everyone has cell phones today, and of course they have their good and bad. In schools it seems the bad outweighs the good. I agree that it is annoying and distracting when students have their phones under their desks during class, but I don't see the reason to ban them from school completely. I am guilty of always having my phone, and just as yours accidentally rang, it can sometimes happen to students. If it truly is an accident there is no reason to confiscate, but if they're off task I would at least confiscate it myself for the remainder of the class.
