I'm in Boston for the National Science Teachers Association annual conference. It's been grand, particularly since we were able to stay for a few days with a friend from Concord. We've had wonderful interactions in the evening, and were able to celebrate a joint birthday with a small cake (and an ice cream social from Toshiba - not just for me, but Arthur Eisenkraft was celebrating the winners of the Toshiba Invention contest).
I'm just waiting for my husband to finish morning prep, and catching up on blogging and such. One of the women we bunked with is a player on Second Life, so i signed up. I still have little idea what I would use it for, but I'm going to head off to NOAA, who has a virtual site, to find out.
I'll try to get pictures later.
Oh - that reminds me. 20 years ago, I saw a short video called A Private Universe, that explored how students learn science, and how many can be good students, and yet, struggle with misconceptions. At a panel discussion of the project, they introduced on of the formerly 14 year olds who participated, Heather Mars. She is an adult, an beautiful and engaging woman, and she majored in Physics in college. It was quite interesting. I did get a few shots, but I doubt they were that good - I'll look later.
